What Causes Upper Left Chest Pain And Arm Pain?

I am off sick with stress/work related. I am having chest pains on my left side upper breast. Sometimes I have a throbbing pain in my left arm when I have this pain. I am not breathless when I inhaled. Iam on amitryptylline 10mg to help me relax. It maybe muscleskeleteal. Do you think I should go to A&E when I have this pain for an ECG? I am 53, 52kg and 5ft. I have a history of Lichens scelerosis but no cardiac history.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of stress and anxiety related symptoms is more but as you are in post menopausal age (53 years), better to first rule out heart diseases.
Post menopausal women are at increased risk of heart diseases because of low estrogen and progesterone.
So get done ecg and 2d echo first.
If both these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases.
Stress and anxiety related symptoms is more likely.
So consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on it's solution.
You may need newer anxiolytic drugs too. Don't worry, you will be alright. But first rule out heart diseases,
Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
