I have always had upper back pain due to having larger breast. Over the last 1-2 weeks I has had pretty back back pain in middle of my spine, upper and neck area. I have no recent trauma or imjury and it doesn t seem to be subsiding. What could be wrong with my back?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to repetitive stress injury of muscles of back and neck. Applying ice packs or hot fomentation will be helpful. You can apply gel containing NSAIDs like ketoprofen or diclofenac (volini) also. If there is no improvement with you can also take NSAIDs like Ibuprofen (motrin). Sleep on hard mattress. Avoid sitting for long time. If not improving with this consult an orthopedian and have x ray (and MRI if needed) of cervical spine to rule out problems like intervertebral disc injury and to manage it.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
