Hi, I am suffering from upper back and lower back pain.. Initially the pain started some 7 years ago and doctor had prescribed EZACT 120 MG for 2 months... there was no pain when taking the tablets and when stopped it continued. Later took some homeopathy treatment for 2 years and there was no pain after that.. recently from past 1 month the pain started again. All i can note from my earlier diagnosis is HLA-B27 is positive. Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
Back pain associative with stiffness can be an early sign of ankylosing spondylitis (since HLA B27 is positive). Pls do repeat HLA B27 now. Also pls take an x ray of spine ( cervical, thoracic and lumbar) SI joint, hips and knee to see whether the problem has affected the other joints or not.If not be happy.

Treatment:
1) Exercises is the mainstay of the treatment. This is to keep the normal joint free and mobile.
2) Swimming is a good exercises in early cases.
