What Causes Unusual Sharp Pain In Ankle?

Hello, I ve been at work all day. I ve been having sharp pain in my right ankle only through out the day. I have not twisted it or sprained it. But I just now looked at it and the outside of my right ankle only is very puffy! What s going on with that. No I don t have a history of diabetes in my family, just in case you are thinking about that!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in the ankle can be related to gout. I recommend to check the uric acid blood levels for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain. Cold compresses can help in relieve the pain and inflammation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
