What Causes Unusual Behavior In The Toddlers?

My four year old grandson has been throwing small toys at his head and saying stop it as he repeats that action. When u ask him why or who he is talking o he says no one. He also rubs on his ear frequently. Will stop if told but mindlessly does it again.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, he might be having ear infections or pains due to which he tries to mask it or divert his attention. However, it is better to get him reviewed by a pediatrician or an ENT specialist. Workup for any subjective cause should be done first.

Auditory or visual hallucinations are not usually the presenting feature of psychiatric disorders in children. However urinary copper levels or ceruloplasmin may be done to rule out Wilson's.
