Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I've been having a strange problem recently. I never thought this was possible however I'm going to say it. I have an issue my lips are moving as if someone is talking. My lips are moving like a mumbling coming from my mouth. No matter what I do I can't stop it even if I clench my jaw. How would I ever be able to figure this out? Its too strange to even bring up to a doctor in person.
Lip Twitching also known as Lip quiver can be due to causes like Vitamin B12 and calcium deficiency, potassium deficiency, traumatic injury or inflammation of facial nerve that supplies muscles of face, anxiety and panic attacks, nerve inflammation and infection caused by viruses, side effect of medication if you take any etc.
I would suggest you to first of all consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis.
You can be advised to get investigations done blood test and if any nerve related problem suspected then investigations like MRI, CT Scan, Nerve conduction studies, Electromyogram etc to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat you accordingly. You can be advised to take multivitamins along with calcium and potassium supplements.. You can do warm compresses over the lips.
You can also do breathing exercises along with meditation to keep stress minimal.
