What Causes Tumor Lesions In Airway In A Lung Cancer Patient?
My Mom has non-small cell lung cancer, she finished her last chemo treatment 2 weeks ago, but has now been hospitalized with penomonia she has been given 3 units of blood and a pint of platlets. it worked short term but the next day, he blood is low again and the platelets they gave her are gone and are lower today than they were when she came into the hospital. On top of this, the lung doctor has found what she thinks are tumor lesions in her main airway, wont know if they are cancer or not until Tuesday. will her body work thru this itself once the chemo is out of her system, and what are the chances that these lesions are just infection, so far the strong meds they are ging her for the penomina are not affecting the infection...pls help....

Since your mother is a lung cancer patient and she is now having pneumonia i would suggest she completes her course of antibiotics for 7 days.
After completing the course she does a new CT scan of chest.If in the scan they find tumour lesion in her main airways then then a biopsy from the lesion is suggested and after completing 3 rounds of chemotherapy a new CT scan of chest should be done and it should be compared with the old CT scan to find the response from the chemotherapy that is whether tumour has shrunk in size or not and find the response from therapy.
