What Causes Trigeminal Neuralgia During Pregnancy?
Hi there I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and at 30 weeks was diagnosed with TN! It has progressively got worse & now im not sleeping at all at night and only allowed codeine or paracetamol! Im starting to doubt that I will be able to have this baby naturally as im so exhausted ( walking zombie) and the pressure & pain in my head is soooo bad!I dont know what to do??
As per your complain Trigeminal Neuralgia causes electric shock like pain which can be initiated with even a blow of cold air over the effected side of face..
Carbamazepine is the drug of choice for it but it is not indicated during pregnancy so you are not recommended for taking it and it is true that you can take only Paracetamol and Codeine [even more preferred is Paracetamol]..
As far as Delivery of the baby is concerned there is a chance that you get a bout of Neuralgic pain during the labours so there are most probable chances that cesarean method of delivery will be more suitable in your case but the best way is to consult a trained Gynaecologist who can assess your condition and can decide the best way for your delivery..
For relief from stress and anxiety it is advisable for you to do meditation and think positively..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
