What Causes Tremors In The Hands And Shortness Of Breath?

I may need knee replacement surgery in one or both knees. I m obese and short of breath upon exertion and though I quit smoking 7 years ago I did smoke for 36 years. I upon exertion especially have hand tremors while doing fine detail work. Could the pressure on my knees be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the shortness of breath is a heart problem.
Knowing that you are a long time smoker and obese, enforce it.
You should check your heart function before operation of the knee.
Also, you should be checked for diabetes (fasting glucose and postprandial glucose levels).

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
