What Causes Tremors In The Body And Heaviness In The Eyes?

Do you know what this is? So last night I felt this jolt go through my body that caused both of my arms to fly up, I was laying down at the moment. It didn’t feel like a shock, it’s hard to describe other than feeling this wave that caused this involuntary movement. I then felt my eyelids go heavy and I couldn’t move. Then I drifted off in to sleep and woke up hours later. This is the second time it has happened to me. It always seems to happen when I’m tired. I was about to lay on my bed when I just saw this flash of white my body jolted again and I fell asleep and woke up just a few hours later. I’m I passing out? Is this narcolepsy?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Heaviness of the body in the sleep may be due to sleep paralysis. Several things can bring on episodes of sleep paralysis. For example, sleep deprivation, some medications and some sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, are triggers. Also, sleep paralysis is commonly seen in patients with narcolepsy. Tablet like Clomipramine may help. You may undergo polysomnography to detect the causative. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
