Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm seven months pregnant. I have had a toothache for almost a month now. Well it's more like a mouth ache because its the whole left side of my mouth, top and bottom. I have been taking Tylenol to ease the pain and it has helped. But this morning I noticed a lump in/on the tip of my tongue. I cannot see it but it is very painful to the touch. I haven't been doing anything different when it comes to my oral hygiene or the vitamins/ medications I have been taking. What's going on?
I have gone through your query & can understanding your concern
As per your symptoms, you might be suffering from Pyogenic granuloma. It is a vascular lesion that occurs mainly in mouth and appears as an overgrowth of tissue. It occurs due to high hormonal level of progesterone in pregnancy in response to irritation, physical trauma, etc. This lesion is not a tumor or collection of pus.
You should visit a dentist. There is usually no treatment required, since the lesion may heal spontaneously. Dental cleaning to remove any calculus or other source of irritation may be required in some cases.
Hope your query has been solved. Good luck
