What Causes Tooth Pain Post Tonsillectomy?

I had a tonsillectomy six days ago and I ve noticed that I ve been clenching my teeth pretty heavily in the last few days. I don t normally clench my teeth, but it s causing me quite a bit of tooth pain. I m not really aware that I m doing it until I start to notice the pain. Is this typical at all after a tonsillectomy? I really don t know why I m doing it.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if the pain is in a single tooth then there is a possibility that the pain is due to any decay in the tooth or traumatic injury to the tooth..

But in case if the pain is generalized to multiple teeth it can be due to teeth clenching habit..

Pain in teeth is not a common finding after Tonsillectomy and you should consult a Dentist and get evaluated that whether pain is due to decay , clenching habit or radiating pain from surgery site..

As of now you can take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for pain relief..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
