What Causes Tooth Ache And Pain In The Lower Jaw?

Hi. I have had acute tooth and lower jaw pain for the last four or five nights. Painkillers have no effect. The pain does not seem to be tooth decay because I am fine with eating. I thought it was probably my wisdom teeth which have never come through but then I noticed bleeding from my ear. Could they be related? Should I see a doctor or a dentist?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Pain in jaw can be due to ear infection as well as tooth infection or both but if you have localised pain in a single tooth then it can be most probably due to tooth and if there is no decay then it can be fractured tooth..

Secondly if there is bleeding from ear it can be due to some trauma as if there must be infection then it can be associated with pain..

So my suggestion is to consult a Dentist and get evaluated and an x Ray of tooth can be done to check for the cause of pain..
For blood in ear you should consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated..

If there is tooth decay or fracture then treatment of tooth with root canal treatment or extraction depending on the condition of the tooth..

If there is associated ear infection also then a course of antibiotics and painkillers along with antibiotic ear drops will help..

Hope this helps .

Regards.
