What Causes Tonsils To Enlarge?

I am a 22 year old female. 5 8 and 150 pounds. For the past I have noticed that I have constantly enlarged tonsils. I noticed after I had unprotected sex with someone I didn t know too well. My left tonsil has a bump on it that is the same color and texture as the rest of my tonsils. It hasn t grown in size but it hasn t shrunk either, it is about the size of a pea. I have no idea what this is but I m getting worried that it might be std related are even cancer.
