What Causes Tissue Under Tongue Turning White?

Tissue under tongue turning white
Hi, the tissue on the floor of my mouth, behind my bottom teeth has changed from rounded tissue to ridgelike, with the top of the ridge turning white. What could this be? It doesn't hurt but peels now and then.
