What Causes Tinnitus, Memory Loss And Insomnia?

My 27 year old son is having the following symptoms; ringing in ears, decreased hearing, losing feeling in his body, losing spatial awareness, decreased ability to focus, depression and anxiety, memory loss, feeling numb...not feeling emotion, insomnia , he feels hopeless. He is currently incarcerated , has taken ciprofloxen, xanax, prozac and some illegal steroid injections about six months ago. He has been complaining that he feels like he is dying; medical staff have examined him, including EKG and they say his tests are fine. He has self harmed twice due to his hopelessness. They say he is immature, and complaining to get attention; but my son says he is very sick and needs to come home. Please help me understand what is going on with him.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tinnitus, memory loss and insomnia it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury, temporomandibular dysfunction or a circulatory system disorder. Stress and anxiety can also cause tinnitus and headaches. Need not to worry and leep yourself calm. You should avoid touching or pricking ear. Start taking supplement like ginkgo biloba and drink green tea 2-3 times a day. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to find out exact cause. Doctor may order certain tests like audiological test , rushing test, high and low pitched test. Doctor may prescribe tricyclic antidepressants , alprazolam and devices like hearing aids and masking devices .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
