What Causes Tinnitus After A Head Injury?

My sister and I were moving my elliptical up stairs..this is huge gym size, the pedal part which was unattached, came down on my head..I have a dent in my head which is soft, constant ringing in the ears, basically I just feel different.This happened over 24 hrs ago.I don t want to miss time from work and am curious if severe enough to go to ER?
