What Causes Tingling Sensation Underneath Tongue?

One of my Salivary gland s is bigger than the other underneath my tongue. The tingling sensation underneath my tongue is becoming annoying. A week ago I had food poising and became dehydrated. I drink about 1 bottle of water each day. How do I stop this tingling? I really don t want to get surgery.

Hi,

Well, enlarged salivary gland under the tongue and tingling sensation can be due to obstruction in the duct or the opening of the Salivary gland duct due to formation of Salivary stones. However for appropriate diagnosis consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Surgeon and get checked.

An x ray can be done for confirmation. For Salivary stones it is not necessary that surgery is needed as many times stones can be removed by palpation and removing stones from duct opening. Another important thing is that as you are drinking one bottle of water and if it is a One liter bottle you need to be cautious and increase your water intake.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
