What Causes Tingling Sensation In Foot At Night After An ORIF Surgery?

Hello I had ORIF surgery on my broken fibula and dislocated ankle 11 days ago. I have since started having pins and needles especially at night in my foot and sensations of extreme heat. What should I do? My doctor dismissed this and acted as though this is normal. Any advice would be great.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Tingling sensation in foot mostly caused by peripheral nerve damage. Your peripheral nerve might have been injured during operation or in accident. Nerve damage is almost always permanent as nerve tissue does not grow back easily. One can only prevent further damage by identifying its cause and taking treatment, but the damaged nerve cannot be repaired. There is a window period of a few days between getting tingling sesation and the nerve being permanently damaged. Thus, if tingling sensation in foot is treated during this period, the permanent damage to nerves can be avoided.
Advice
1.     Methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months
2.     Take proper rest
Thanks
