What Causes Tingling And Numbness In Thighs And Calves?

Hi, Male just turned 55. Train 4 days a week (every other) 45 min of stretching and core , 5-6 mile trot and 45-60 min in the gym with weights. About 6 mos ago I developed a persistant tingle/numbness in both thighs, soemtimes calves, that, even when I took a week to rest off didnt go away. They do seem to be warmer than the rest of body. Last night I noticed I was phazing out, that is 1-2 seconds of vertigo or dizzieness. Nothing prolonged. Noticed the write up on spinal stenosis but was also wondering about brain issues because of the phazing out. Since my wifes dad just had brain cancer and was without symptomology until one day when he just started mumbling, should I bring up a brain CT/MRI just in case?? What do ya think?? Thx, Bob

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
You are 55 and at that age possibility of lumbar canal stenosis is highly likely. Do you have difficulty in walking and do you experience both limbs tingling and numbness increase after walking certain distance and you have to take rest after walking certain distance? If your answer is yes than lumbar canal stenosis is diagnosis. You should go for mri of lumbosacral spine with screening of whole spine. Screening would help in ruling out brain abnormalities.
