What Causes Tingling And Cold Sensation On The Soles Of The Feet?

My Dr. Recently put me on Lipitor. My feet bottoms have started to tingle and feel cold all the time. I am wondering if this is a side effect or something else. I have been taking it about 3 weeks now. I am 64 years old and about 20 pounds over my ideal weight. My e-mail address is YYYY@YYYY . Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Sir the symptoms that you have described seems to be due to neuropathy..Atorvastatin causes myalgias with myopathy involving muscle which would present as muscle ache and not as tingling sensation as sensory symptoms are less in myopathy..
Lipitor is the drug for dyslipidemia.Dyslipidemia is associated with other metabolic abnormalities in the form of diabetes and hypertension
Diabetes is commonly associated with involvement of nerves hence it must be considered in your case..Also a possibility of Vitamin B12 deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency must be considered
