What Causes Tic In Vocal Chords?

In our family, several of us have had facial tics our whole lives. My father had them, my sisters and I have them, etc. My daughter just was found to have a tic in her vocal cords and is getting botox injections. Is this related to what the rest of us have?

Hi,

Tics in vocal cords can be familial or related to electrolyte imbalance, thyroid related problems. Hence, it can run by n family. But voice therapy is important in treatment of tics. Botox injections is needed intermittently if not controlled by voice therapy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
