What Causes Throwing Up Of Blood?

Hi I just vomited up food mixed with bright red and i think it to be blood. I forced myself to do it and also forced myself today. I don t feel sick or have any pain, though my throat is kind of sore. I also just drank some alcohol so I don t know if that contributed. What do you think it is? I honestly feel fine but am concerned about the blood in the vomit. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Vomiting blood is a medical emergency.

It means there is bleeding somewhere in your gullet, stomach or the first part of your bowel.

I suggest you to go at the emergency room for further evaluation as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
