What Causes Throbbing Pain In The Ears?

Hi, I saw the oral surgeon today because I had yellow discharge coming out from a space where I just had my wisdom tooth extracted (bottom). I also have a very intense throbbing pain that goes to my ear and head, so I thought a dry socket, but the pus and liquid that comes out of the hole when I push on my cheek makes it seem more like an infection. The dentist said that it could just be a dry socket and he put medicated dressing in the hole, but it fell out about an hour and a half after he put it in, I still see yellow discharge, wouldn t that be an infection? He told me it wasn t but I am convinced otherwise.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Yellow discharge from the wisdom tooth extraction site that is also painful along with pain in ear and head is due to radiating pain from the extraction site and it is appearing like infection..

Infection can also be due to any remaining root pieces in the extraction socket..

It looks less probably like dry socket..

So first of all get an x ray of the extraction area done, further treatment can be planned accordingly..

As of now take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash.

Hope this helps..

Regards..
