Hello,

A throbbing sensation is one symptom often associated with headache, a common medical condition.when you develop a headache, blood rushes to the affected area of the head in effort to remedy the problem. Throbbing causes the dilation of your blood vessels from the increased blood flow. Many times headache is simply a nuisance and can be handle at home. However, some headache have serious underlying causes like stroke, a brain tumor or meningitis, for these reasons, it is important to consult the doctor.

Throbbing headache at back of head - Occipital neuralgia that can happen with damaged nerves from spinal cord to the scalp. Sometimes it can confused with migraine headache. This condition can lead to sharp aching, or throbbing pain that starts at the base of head and moved toward the scalp and also will give pain behind the eyes.

Remedies for headache that can help you:
- Hot and cold compressiond to your head and neck
- Massage and small amount of caffeine
- Medications such as - Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Triptan, Zolmitriptan can help after prescription

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
