What Causes Throat Pain And Itching Sensation In Ears?

My throat hurts when touch like if I swallowed a horse pill and it went down the wrong way or if someone hit u in the throat. Doesn't hurt to swallow or eat? My ears are itchy inside as well. I'm pretty sure it is irritated cause of coughing due to people smoking cigarettes in the house and outside with the door open. I use to smoke and I don't any more. I always seem to get sick from just the smell of it and I can't stand the smell either.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of throat pain and itching sensation in ears, well the symptoms you mention in query are clearly indication a condition known as eustachian tube dysfunction . Well there can be many reasons for eustachian tube dysfunction like upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis or post nasal drip.

I would suggest you to :

- Avoid touching or pricking ear.

- Take throat lozenges.

- Take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion .

- Do warm saline gargles .

- Apply dry hot compresses to external ear .

Consult ENT specialist again to rule out causes like ear infection, meniere's' disease or wax buildup. Doctor may prescribe mucolytic agent , decongestant and antibiotics. In some cases doctor may also give tubes to relieve the pressure which is common procedure .
