What causes throat pain after smoking?

Hi

My throat hurts after smoking cigarettes, it feels raw at the back. I smoke an average of 5 a day, more at the weekends and recently I've been smoking for 3 days, off for 4, back on for 3 and on the days I smoke my throat
is no getting sore.

Many thanks for your help.
