What Causes Throat Pain After A Pacemaker Insertion?

My husband had a pacemaker put in 5 weeks ago. Immediately after the surgery he complained of a lump deep in his throat. He did not have a tube in his throat during surgery. This pain did subside after a couple of weeks and is now back again. What can it be?

and nothing more to worry.
salt water gargling(with warm water ) is that all he required to relieve his symptoms
