Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

One of the most common causes of ridges in the nails is lack of vitamins. especially Vitamin D. The findings have also come in from recent studies that diabetics and the elderly, both have very low vitamin D content.

There is a high possibility that the ridging of the nails that you are developing is due to the low vitamin d content.

I would therefore recommend a vitamin d replacement.

Some other vitamins and minerals have also been found to cause the ridging of the nails, I thin therefore that a regular course of multivitamins and especially vitamin D may be helpful.

Suggest testing Vitamin D levels and kidney function tests as well.
Hope your sugars are well controlled as well.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
