What Causes Thick Mucus Excessively In The Throat?

Hello, I've been having excessive mucus, and every morning when I wake up for the past couple of weeks now there has been a thick string almost of yellow and green mucus that I can visually see in the back of my throat it's uncomfortable to the point when I almost want to gag.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The thick mucous secretion what you are describing can be a pus discharge from your tonsil or from the gums secondary to gum infection. Nothing to be panic, consult an oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole(if you are not allergic). Do warm saline gargling.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
