What Causes The Uvula To Touch The Base Of The Tongue After A Tonsillectomy?
adult 67 year old post tonsillectomy of 2 1/2 months having a problem with base or side of tongue adhearing to side of tonsil site causing my throat to have less space on that side and causing my uvela to touch the back of my tongue--it feels horrible . Is there any corrective measure to be done or will possibly scar tissue form? I also have a tumor on my paratoid gland on the same side that is schudled to be remmoved in 2 weeks.
As per your query it seems that there is inflammation secondary to infection in the throat leading to swollen uvula as well as swollen throat leading to narrowing of space in throat.. It should be taken care of as if throat keeps on narrowing there can be difficulty in breathing and can become fatal.. You should consult an ENT Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and advise you to take antibiotics like levofloxacin, steroids to reduce swelling, warm saline gargles and if swelling is excessive he can inject intramuscular Dexamethasone for faster reduction in swelling..
In case if the narrowing is caused due to Parotid tumor removal of the same will relieve..
Hope this information helps..
