What Causes The Swelling And Itching In Vagina After Waxing?

I waxed myself down there and now the hairs are growing - I waxed myself all the time but this is the first time it became this crazy itchy... I thought its just the hairs growing back so i left it alone... but i might have scratched it too - cause it felt like it healed up and then when I find myself scratching it lightly it'll swell up again. I had my period too so it made it much more uncomfortable. I'm use to rinsing even when I pee so I think it doesn't have time to heal?... I put petroleum jelly just outside and it seems to help soothe the itch but I think my growing pubic hairs pokes my skin again and it makes it itchy again. Should I shave?... but i'm afraid it might get irritated again. The itch is not inside but outside... no bumps but some that looks like rashes but no crazy bumps or anything.... no smell nor wierd or different than normal discharge.

Hi. Thanks for asking on HCM

Pubic area is prone to develop Razor bumps. They happen specially because pubic hair are curly, coarse and also since shaving creates a sharp edge at the tip of hair.

So when these hairs grow they curl back onto itself and can reenter skin thus causing razor bumps which can become infected with bacteria.

One must always take a few precautions while shaving in this area:
1. Shave while showering. Warm water makes the hair soft or one can use a wet washcloth soaked in warm water in that area before shaving.
2. Use a shaving cream/gel for moisturization which makes the hair soft.
3. Avoid a close shave/use single blade razor.
4. Don't use dull razors
5. Shave less often

take care
regards
