What Causes The Lower Legs To Turn Dark In Color?
My husband is 64 years old his lower legs have been gradually turning dark almost black in color. His ankles also swell up bad in the evening. They are fine in the am. He takes a water pill. He went to a vein specialist and he did an ultra sound to check the blood flow down and back and found no problems. When we ask what else it could be he said I do not know . Where do we go from here?

Hello, according to your description, your husband has Pigmented Purpuric dermatoses of the lower extremities. It is a dermatological condition characterized by extravasation of erythrocytes in the skin with marked hemosiderin deposition. It is often of unknown etiology or may be associated with chronic trauma such as jogging. The venous circulation is usually normal. It is not serious, only the color worries. There is no treatment to eliminate the color. Applying moisturizing lotions can help
