What Causes The Baby To Be In Cephalic Presentation During Second Trimester?

hi, my baby was in cephalic presentation at 21 weeks and it is a single intrauterine foetus with placenta anterior. Is that normal this early? And I felt a slight pressure, nothing painful down in my pelvic area. Does that mean baby is trying to move? Hope he isn t in distress because he s head down atm in which also will he stay at that position until birth? Those are my questions thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
21 weeks of gestation is too early to determine what would be the presentation of baby during term.
Yes, it is normal at this stage of pregnancy and since the uterus starts growing larger in size, you would feel pressure in the pelvis, perineum and lower back.
The baby keeps moving and also keeps changing the position. Only in the last few weeks (34 to 36 weeks), it would be able to assess what would be the position at the time of delivery by ultra sound scan.
Keep your good nutrition status. Keep well hydrated. Keep your antenatal check-ups up to date. Be calm, composed and relaxed.
All the best.
