What Causes Terrible Cough, Sore Throat And Bronchitis?

Hi there, i am visiting my oarents with my 4 1/2 mth old son (being nursed). My mom is just getting over a sickness that i think im now catching. Im curious about what she had and how i can feel better and maybe prevent my son fron feeing bad.

Her symptoms were:
-sore thraot/hard to swallow (im feeling this now)
-lost voice
-terrible cough
-lasted 9+ days and now has bronchitus

Symptoms are suggestive of Upper respiratory tract infection. It can be due to bacterial infection or due to common cold. You can prevent it by:
> Keep a distance when she coughs.
> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect & prevent disease at the initial stage.
> Keep baby's face covered while nursing so that droplet infection won't spread.

To prevent it from spreading to your son:
> keep baby away when coughing.
> Keep his utensils clean
> Keep him safe from dust & cold
