What Causes Tenderness In The Salivary Glands Below The Jaws?

I had a UTI (urinary track infection about 8 days ago, was given some medication and advised lot of fluids, It has gone away now. But since last 3 days there is tenderness in the salivary glands below the jaws on the left side. It is tender to touch and pricking like sensation is felt while eating food. On touching it feels to be larger in size as com paired to the right side gland. pls advise on how to treat this ?

Swelling of the glands under the jaw can be due to causes like infection in the submandibular salivary gland while can also be due to infection in submandibular lymph nodes..

So first of all get a clinical examination done to get confirmed what is the exact cause of the swelling..

If there is infection then a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and cool compresses over the swelling can help..
