I feel l may be pregnant. I have always been regular and my cycle has always had hutful cramps to the point where I dont wat to be bothered with anyone. i have always bled very heavily. But in Aug it changed, it was very bright, not heavy and lasted only 5 days. In Sept it was the same but not heavy bright red and and lasted 7 days. But my breasts have been tender on a constant basis since the middle of sept. been feelng like gagging in sept started throwing up certain food items two weeks ago. I have been having chills and shakes since Sept. This will be my second child after 11 years. Took a pregnancy 6 times all neg including the test from the doc but my question is should I ask for a blood test or just wait?

Hi there,
After reading your question, I am of the opinion that:
1) You have no missed periods and there are negative pregnancy tests. This indicates you are not pregnant.
2) The vomitting and chills could be due to some other reason like gastritis, food poisoning, viral fever, etc.
3) Breast tenderness is also not a reliable sign of pregnancy.
4) My suggestion is that you do not need to take a blood test for pregnancy, but if you are really anxious to find out, there is no harm in getting one.

I hope this was helpful.
Regards,
Dr. Shikha Shah

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) As you have history of regular cycles, I will suggest you to wait for your expected date of the cycle . If you happen to cross your dates, then you can suspect about pregnancy.

If you have done pregnancy tests before the expected date of the cycle, then it will be too early to expect positive pregnancy test reports.

3 ) If you happen to cross your dates, then I will suggest you to get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy . In case of doubt blood beta HCG test and USG will be of help.

4 ) If your pregnancy test is negative, even after missing a period, then your symptoms can be due to PMS - premenstrual syndrome. In that case, I will suggest you to opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen. Start on long acting form of Vitamin B 6, vitamin E and evening primrose oil supplements on daily basis at least for next 3 months.

5 ) If pregnancy test is negative and cycle is delayed , I will suggest you to inducethe periods with progesterone tablets. Your treating doctor can guide you further about the doses and withdrawal bleeding of the same.

I hope this answerhelps you.
Thanks.
