What Causes Tearing, Ripping Sensation In Abdomen?

I don't have any health issues. Looking for answers for my sister. Experiencing "tearing", "ripping" sensation in her abdomen along with distended, bloated abdomen. Pain only in the upper, mid section above the umbilicus. Had CT Scan it was negative. Had colonoscopy - three polyps - precancerous - all removed. Ulcer - being treated. She's 36. Still no explaination for her symptoms. Had a KUB today along with more labs... just waiting on answers.

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

I will not discuss all causes of Abdominal pain as CT and colonoscopy has already been done . I will be discussion about conditions that could have been missed by the CT and Colonoscopy.

1. Acute Pancreatitis : Though CT scan picks up pancreatitis most of the time sometimes in the Initial stages it may miss it .

For this condition I advise you to get Serum Lipase test done.

2. Acute Cholecystitis : Might be missed by CT . You require a HIDA scan or a ERCP .

3. Kidney stones : If the stones are small and are getting flushed out frequently it becomes difficult to pick up . A CT KUB will be better .

4. Porphyria : is a rare metabolic disorder which can cause severe Pain abdomen. If all the above mentioned tests come normal ask your doctor to evaluate for Porphyria.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .
