What Causes Tear Near The Urethra Along With Burning Sensation During Urination?

My husband has a small cut on the very top of his penis, near the urethra... His urinalysis was clear. He is in pain (discovered yesterday)as it burns when he urinates... But it has stopped bleeding. He was given a topical cream. How long typically do these things take to heal? Can we have sex during the healing process? Thank you.
