What Causes Symptoms Similar To A Lower Back Stress Fracture?

Hello! I just recently had all of the symptoms for a lower back stress fracture, in which my doctor got an MRI to confirm but was confused when my MRI came back completely normal and healthy. Are there other conditions with similar symptoms to an L5 stress fracture that cannot be picked up on an MRI?

Hi,

At the outset I would like further information like any history of injury or trauma to your back You had and your work culture? Since MRI is normal this might be related to muscle spasm like Acute lumbago, kidney disorder or genitourinary tract infection.

In my opinion you should follow these guidelines for a while.

1. complete bed rest for 4-5 days
2. not to lift heavy weight and avoid sudden bending forward
3. correct your posture and gait
4. Analgesic like diclofenac or paracetamol tablets to be taken as pain increases
5. Diclofenac gel for local application to applied gently, not to massage
6. you should take lots of fluids to flush off the urogenital tract if any infection is present.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to ask for follow up question with all the details I have asked for. So that I will be able to tell you more precisely.

Best wishes,
Dr. B R Hudda
