What Causes Swollen Vagina And Rashes While On Metformin For Diabetes?

I am 80 years old, have type 2 diabetes - taking Metaformin pills, heart disease and high blood pressure. Developed symptons of swollen vagina, thighs and lower abdomen, pink non raised rash, really bad burning sensation. Cool tub water soothes, but only for little while. Said it might be allergic reaction to something, but I do not think so. Taking Benedryl, however have now developed fever. Any ideas ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it can be a viral infection. Anyway a photo of the rash can be helpful to evaluate it. Take acetaminophen for fever and citerizine for rash.

Continue cool bath with Epson salt and use menthol talcum to ease redness and itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
