What Causes Swollen Tonsils Along With Red Marks On It?

Hi. My tonsils have been extremely swollen for about five days... They have some red marks and a bit of pus looking stuff. My throat is not sore. I just feel like my tonsils are in the way of my throat... They are squishing my uvula which is uncomfortable. Strep test was negative.

Hi,

I would suggest to follow basic precautions along with mild medications such as:
- Do warm saline rinses several times a day and do provodine iodine rinses once daily
- Maintain proper oral hygiene
- Avoid oily and fried food along with cold carbonated beverages
- Take Advil for pain and swelling along with combination of antibiotic for 3-5 days
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get it examined completely. Start treatment after thorough examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari, Dentist
