What Causes Swollen Tonsil And Blood In Cough?

Hello I have a swollen tonsil (hurts when I swallow) for about atleast a month now, I woke up coughing and a tonsil stone came out..im use to these, I checked in the mirror and saw what I thought was another big stone in the tonsil crypt but it was BLACK when I tried to remove it, it felt more like a mass of skin, it hurt when I pulled on it, so I left it alone. If its not a tonsil stone what is it? I also coughed up blood and have blood around the mass.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The black mass can be related to coagulated blood.
I suggest gargling with salty water.
I also recommend to use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
