What Causes Swollen Painful Thumb?
my daughter s left thumb is swollen and red and painful near her nail. The redness now cover most of one side and lower part of the nail. She took a shower and came out and now the their is a red line that runs from her wrist and up her forearm. She says her arm is tender and weak? Ideas?

From history it seems that she might be having acute nail bed infection producing these symptoms.
She might require one course of Amoxicilin, Clauvinic combination medicine course for 5 days.
Give her one course of anti-inflammatory medicine course as well.
Apply antibiotic cream locally.
Ok and take care.
