What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Groin Area?

Hi, I am a colon cancer survivor. I noticed a knot in my groin area yesterday on my left thigh. I is about 3/4 inches in diameter. I ran/walked a half marathon last Sunday and have been in recovery mode. Could this be a result of that or do I have lymph nodes in that area that could swell up. I also developed a painful knot on my lower right shin that hasn t gone away.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

I would explain that these lymph nodes seem to be reactive, possibly caused by a local infection in this area.

I don't think that they are related to the marathon.

But, considering your past medical history, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and an abdominal ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
