What Causes Swollen Labia Majora After Gallbladder Surgery?

One side of my labia majora is swollen and kind of numb. It just happened out of the blue today. I haven t had sex, there is no itch, no discharge, no pain other than its rather swollen. I had gallbladder surgery 6 days ago, and started wearing a cloth and velcro band around my tummy to apply pressure as I was really swollen in my tummy area and it was sore to just walk around. I ve been wearing it the past few hours and walking around, not sure if that could be the cause or not? I know my stomach has been rather swollen and lopsided ever since surgery. Ive never had that part of me swell before. Im 33 years old.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can.

If this was done laparoscopically then it is possible that certain amount of air was insuflated into abdominal wall and this may have led to your symptoms. Also, small veins may have been closed during surgery which drain blood from labias. These are possible side effects of surgery but of course it ma not be the cause. There could be bartolini cyst or celulitis, especially if there is redness and pain so you should see gynecologist in this case. Otherwise,it is self limiting and it will pass with time.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
