Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
After any hips surgery in elderly it is quite common to get swelling in lower limb because of inadequate movement of that limb which is called as venous stasis .
The only danger is that it might lead to deep venous thrombosis which is diagnosed by colour Doppler and it need more aggressive treatment.
So you should get Doppler done and if it is normal then nothing to worry and encourage her to do exercise of lower limb .I am sure swelling will go away slowly
All the best
