What Causes Swollen Jaw And Bruises Around The Jaw Line?
my sister has a swollen jaw and burses around her jaw line with very dark pigment all the way around on both cheeks...she has used drugs in the past . she was known to use heroin I was wondering if this is a known symptom for drug users. she does not know what happened or is lying.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swollen jaws and bruises are not commonly seen as a side effect of drug abuse and is most commonly seen after facial trauma leading to hematoma formation and inflammation leading to swelling and pain.. It may also be due to severe allergic reaction to any bug bite or any chemical cosmetic applied on face.. If the swelling is infront of the ear and bilateral it can also be due to Parotid gland infection known as MUMPS.. You should immediately consult an Oral Physician and get her evaluated and treatment can be planned as per the final diagnosis.. As of now you can do cold compresses over her face..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
