What Causes Swollen Itchy Hands And Wrists While On Amoxycillin?

Hi . I have a coarse of Amoxycillin 500mg caps for about 10 days. both my hand have swollen up and the inside of my wrists . they are red and very itchy . can this be a side effect. my palms are sore as well.I ve been taking zyrtec and using cortic ds 1%cream and it is helping a bit

As per your query if you are taking amoxicillin and swollen itchy hands along with redness have happened after starting amoxicillin the most probable cause for the itching and hives is anaphylaxis or allergic reaction to amoxicillin as it is a common seen side effect in individuals who gets allergy to amoxicillin..

Taking Zyrtec and steroid ointment will relieve but if you still continue taking amoxicillin the symptoms will not subside completely.
You should stop taking amoxicillin and consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can change the antibiotic with other antibiotic drugs..

As of now continue taking zyrtec and applying steroid ointment .
Also do cold compresses, drink plenty of water and take sufficient rest..
