Hi dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to tonsillitis . This condition can be caused by a variety of common viruses and bacteria and is contagious. Pain in the ear is probably due to ear infection , which travel through eustachian tube to ear . It occur when infection of upper respiratory track left untreated . Antibiotic ear drops like Gentamycin can be used to clear off ear infection. DO warm compresses over swollen lymph nodes. In case of no improvement in a week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. Doctor may order certain test and prescribe antibiotic course for at least 10 days . In sever infection doctor can remove tonsils , also known as tonsillectomy . Do betadine gargles , try to keep your ear dry and take proper rest .
